Important Items of Note Week of March 6, 2022 Lent Sermon Series begins this week Answering the question “what is love?” can be a bit tricky. There are all sorts of different aspects of love and it can be a challenging thing to define. This causes a struggle for us as Christians since part of our message is that God loves the world. If a person is unsure if there really is a God, let alone how that love is defined, what does our message even mean? Join us throughout Lent as we look at what love is and how God gives us the ultimate example of love in His Word. March 6 God’s love is GENEROUS March 13 God’s love is FAITHFUL March 20 God’s love is EVERLASTING March 27 God’s love is VAST April 3 God’s love is FIERCE April 10 God’s love is SACRIFICIAL Purim Party – Burning Bush Ministries Friday, March 18 6:00-8:00 pm in the Worship Center Purim is one of the most joyous and fun holidays on the Jewish calendar. It commemorates a time when the Jewish people living in Persia were saved from extermination. The Book of Esther, famous for being the only book of the Bible that does not contain the name of God, has a wonderful Messianic promise. Come and celebrate its fulfillment in Y’shua, Jesus. Esther 9:22 tells us to bring gifts of food for one another, and gifts for the poor. So bring something to share (potluck) and a canned good or an offering to benefit a local food bank. We’ll make sure there’s Hamantashen* for all. Enjoy the Purim Spiel…the Book of Esther…with stomping, noisemakers, and incredible acting from our melodramatic children (both young and old)! *Hamantashen (Haman’s hat): traditional three-cornered pastry with a filling (such as poppy seeds or jam) eaten to signify the “gobbling up” of Haman. Have you woken up at night, or far too early, and just could not get back to sleep? Instead of fidgeting and tossing and turning, take the opportunity to have a conversation with Jesus using these suggestions: Start with a prayer of thanks for all the blessings he has given you, no matter your current situation or circumstances. Next, tell Jesus how much you value your relationship and connection with him… even when you are not deserving he still forgives you and loves you. Ask Jesus how you can help others such as the homeless, poverty-stricken, shut-ins, those struggling with illness or disease. Give Jesus all the praise, glory, honor, thanks for paying the price for our sins so we could have eternal life with him. You may find you don’t get through this whole list, but instead, fall asleep with sweet dreams!
